Wedding Flowers Edinburgh
Monica has a long established reputation as one of Scotland’s finest wedding florists. After a three year apprenticeship in Sydney, Australia, under the guidance of artist Alison Coates, Monica returned to Scotland in 1999 to set up her own shop specialising in wedding flowers in Edinburgh.
Since then she has been producing some of the most interesting and refreshing work that Edinburgh has seen.
Monica’s key strength is ‘atmosphere making’. Drawing on a keen appreciation of the arts and a lifelong love of wild and natural environments her arrangements are often described as painterly. Her naturalistic use of unusual materials and eye for spectacular colour combinations along with a leaning towards gentle old fashioned varieties of flowers allow for a relaxed style of floristry.
Her clients have included Tom Cruise, Simon Cowell, Goldman Sachs, Standard Life, Royal Botanic Gardens and the National Galleries of Scotland. Monica works in close collaboration with the best in the wedding sector. From flower growers to caterers, photographers, event and venue managers based in Edinburgh and beyond. She has experienced a wide range of projects from small intimate weddings at home to large celebrations in country houses and castles.
Wanting to stay in Edinburgh, but needing a more flexible life, she closed her shop in 2011 and turned her attention to wedding flowers and events. She moved to Craiglockhart in 2012 with a view to growing her own flowers and foliage in her new garden.
With the garden now ready for planting, 2014 is going to be a very exciting year in the life of this wedding florist and her clients.
